In 1965, Oris tapped into the zeitgeist with its first dive watch. Its fit-for-purpose stainless steel case and bi- directional bezel wrapped a unique dial design chosen as much for its playfulness as for its clarity and legibility, essential qualities in a watch intended for use underwater. The design captured the creatively unbound spirit of the time, as well as the emerging appetite for recreational diving among the adventurous and upwardly mobile, or Scuba diving, as it would become known. This was a watch for the intrepid and the ambitious. Six decades on, Oris dives into 2025 with a joyful nod to this special heritage design with the 60th Anniversary Edition, a watch that faithfully revives the charm and character of what has become one of the independent Swiss company’s most loved and most iconic models. The new watch has a 40.00 mm stainless steel case, a bi-directional rotating bezel and a Swiss Made automatic mechanical movement, and comes on a stainless steel bracelet. These however are merely a frame for its signature elements, namely the vintage detailing on its black dial: the anti-shock labelling at 6 o’clock, the shorter indices, the singular, large luminescent numerals at 3, 6, 9 and 12 lifted directly from the 1965 original, and, most significantly, the retro Oris logo with the word “waterproof’ underneath it, revived for the first time in Oris’s contemporary history. The new watch is supplied with an additional leather strap and its case back is decorated with special engravings denoting the 60th anniversary of the design. New year, new joy.

Timeline
1965
Oris introduces its first dive watch. It has a 36.00 mm stainless steel case, a domed acrylic crystal, a bi-directional rotating bezel, a screw-down crown and a black dial with characterful, high-contrast detailing, including large, luminescent hour markers at 3, 6, 9 and 12.
2015
To mark the 50th anniversary of one of its most loved models, Oris introduces the Divers Sixty-Five. The watch is a faithful reinterpretation of the vintage 1960s dive watch, only updated with contemporary materials and mechanics. It has an anti-corrosive 40.00 mm stainless steel 316L case, a domed sapphire crystal, a uni-directional rotating bezel, a screw-down crown, a black dial with Super-LumiNova® detailing, and a black rubber strap with a weave effect. It’s water-resistant to 10 bar (100 metres). Inside it is a Swiss Made automatic mechanical movement.
2016
Oris introduces the ‘no numerals’ version of the Divers Sixty-Five. As well as replacing the 1960s- inspired indices with simple, highly legible lume-filled hour markers, the watch’s silhouette is given a respectful update for a more contemporary feel. The bezel design is gently modernised, too, while retaining the condensed mid-century numerals that tie it to its roots. The 12 o’clock index is shaped like the famous Oris Shield and filled with Super-LumiNova®. The first execution shares its material palette and movement with the 2015 edition, but it will become the base for a wide collection of pieces in a range of colours and materials. A chronograph version follows, too. Oris also collaborates with prestigious retailers and media outlets to create collectible limited-edition variants. The Divers Sixty-Five becomes an Oris icon and a best-seller, known and loved by divers and enthusiasts for its joyfully retro aesthetic, versatile styling and reliability.
2024
Almost a decade after the release of the Divers Sixty-Five, Oris announces the Divers Date, a versatile everyday sports watch. As well as its evolved design, the new watch offers a number of performance upgrades, including a weightier, more robust 39.00 mm stainless steel case, a scratch-and fade-resistant ceramic bezel insert, a quick-strap change system, and 20 bar (200 metres) of water resistance so that it can be used for recreational diving, the sport that inspired the 1965 original. At launch, there are three dial colour variants inspired by a 1960s industrial palette. The dial features a bespoke typeface developed exclusively for the Divers Date collection. And inside it is an upgraded automatic mechanical movement now with 41 hours of power reserve.
