Karsanji Bhindi, a fifth-generation goldsmith, emigrated from India to the Fiji Islands with the hope of sharing his craft.
In 1952, Karsanji, together with his brothers opened their own general merchandise shop on Toorak Road in the Fijian city of Suva. In the same year, they uprooted their store to Mark Street, as Karsanji and his brothers were very determined to get their business off the ground.
After investing all their time and energy into the store, the business took considerable time to grow but six years later it had to be uprooted once more to Nina Street, which became the permanent home of Bhindi Brothers.
Since its inception, the Bhindi family demonstrated a commitment to superior quality and customer service which was personally embodied by its founder. In the same year, Karsanji simultaneously embarked in land development projects under the same company, Bhindi Brothers with tremendous grit and incredible tenacity.
Bhindi Brothers, a partnership was transformed into K. Bhindi Brothers Ltd, a limited company. This was the first, substantial step of the family into the corporate world.
At the tender age of 15, Karsanji eldest son Vinod, began to work on the business too, after school and on weekends. He was able to witness his father’s enthusiasm firsthand, who ultimately, became his guru instilling in him the importance of diligent, focused, and honest effort.
Vinod was faced with the challenge of whether to continue with his studies, or assist his father with our family business? Innately, he chose his family and formally began his retail jewelry business and land development career at the age of 15.
Determined to become a master of jewelry trade and a pioneer of real estate, Vinod immersed himself in work from dawn to late night, managing the day-to-day operations of their jewelry showroom in Fiji. He learnt everything from financing and accounting to the purchasing of jewelry and became heavily invested in learning how to design and manufacture jewelry.
All his hard work paid off by the age of 18 and he took over the running of entire Bhindi Fiji operations from his father.
Karsanji’s three sons, Vinod, Jayent and Dhanesh, joined the family business and under the tutelage of their father to become masters of the gold jewelry trade. With the business well-established in Fiji, in 1975 the second generation decided to expand its operations to North America and opened its first jewelry boutique in Vancouver, Canada.
Bhindi Jewelers gradually became the largest independent jewelry store in Western Canada.
The three brothers again seized an opportunity for growth and moved their business and their families to Southern California.
They established their roots in “Little India”, in Artesia, California with a 700- square foot storefront and began their mission to become a household name in the South Asian community.
With the mission to become a household name in the 22K gold jewelery segment, Bhindi expanded with a gold jewelry store in Newark, California in 1987.
The showroom in Artesia received beautification awards and national publicity.
November 25th was named as Bhindi Day by the State of California.
With the passion to serve the South Asian community with the highest standards of quality, design and innovation in gold jewelry, in 1995, the Bhindi family expanded their reach to Atlanta, Georgia with a huge gold and diamond jewelry store.
From its early years trading primarily in gold jewelry, to custom-designed diamond pieces, and now to high-end timepieces, the Bhindi brand has undergone an evolution of luxury making it a one-stop shop for all clients looking for a truly upscale and intimate retail experience.

Alongside their dazzling gold & diamond collection came their first wave of progression into the World of Watches.
The year 1998 marked the continuation of the Bhindi legacy and the beginning of a new era of Bhindi Jewelers as the first member of the family’s third generation entered the business and the catalyst for introducing luxury timepieces to the family business.
That same year, Bhindi Jewelers became an authorized Rolex retailer.
The brothers continued to evolve and adapt to the ever-changing trends in the jewelry industry, embracing innovation while remaining dedicated to the highest level of quality and tradition.
It is imperative for a customer to know EXACTLY what they are buying. At Bhindi there is pride in complete transparency with clients.

Entering into a market for the Porcelain Figurine collectors was a niche that was explored and truly successful.
The authentic Spanish-made Lladró porcelain collection was a soaring hit, especially for their pieces in the ‘Spirit of India’ collection which included spectacular variations of Lord Ganesha.
As the Bhindi passion for watches grew, so too did the presence of luxury watch brands within the store. The desire to showcase their increasing collection of luxury timepieces provided the impetus for the company to open the Glendale Galleria boutique.
Bhindi Jewelers also became one of the few companies to house a Rolex-trained watchmaker, transforming itself from a watch retailer to a full-service watch destination.
Bhindi Jewelers was honored with the Small Business of the Year award for the “2014 California Small Business Day” to recognize their contribution to the state of California.
Selected from Assembly District 58 by Assembly member Cristina Garcia, Bhindi Jewelers was the only Indian business to be honored, the company was among the 80 small business owners chosen for the awards out of 3.3 million in California.
With the firm belief that both a truly personal experience and high-end ambiance need not be mutually exclusive, Bhindi endeavored to create a showroom that exemplified the marriage of these two principles. In 2016, the flagship store in Artesia underwent a major renovation. The once-7,000 square foot showroom now spans over 17,000 square feet and boasts a market-leading collection of gold and diamond jewelry and luxury timepieces over two floors.
Custom-built shop-in-shops within the showroom dedicated to six watch brands allow clients to immerse themselves in the individual brand experience.
